National award, with Lancaster Planning Commission, YSM, and Andrew Mears – Phoenix Award (2008) - Roberto Clemente Park, Lancaster, PA has enhanced the civic and community pride in the neighborhood and has led to economic growth and an improved quality of life for this multi-ethnic community. The Roberto Clemente Park Project is worthy of national recognition as the EPA’s Community Impact Winner because the project shows that a good plan that is supported by and involves the community in a meaningful way is the key to a successful urban revitalization effort.

The jury found the project significantly improved the site and provided increased safety. The community and stakeholder involvement shows success. Process and participation was the best part of the project and should be recognized –the process was excellent.
